Many sparrows perch on bamboo branches, flutter around hibiscus flowers, and peck at the ground.
Each bird is drawn with careful attention to its movement, giving the painting a lively, dynamic feeling. As you look at it, you can almost hear the cheerful chirping of the sparrows and the soft rustling of bamboo leaves.
The combination of bamboo and sparrows has long been a popular subject in both Chinese and Japanese art. By adding the tropical hibiscus flower, the artist created a fresh, modern interpretation of a traditional Japanese painting.
