A vinyl glove with fingers arranged to form a “V” shape can be seen in the upper portion of this piece. This glove is surrounded by text that reads “GOLD STANDARD” and “V. PATTERN PLAN AT HENOKO.”

At the bottom of this work, you can see a red and white scene that calls to mind the famous photograph of American soldiers raising the flag in Iwo Jima in 1945 during WWII.

The solemn black background makes each motif stand out.

By linking the past battle in Iwo Jima with the current issue of the military base construction project in Henoko, Nago City, Okinawa Prefecture together in one piece, this work encourages the viewer to think about the current situation of life in Okinawa.
