YAMADA Minoru(1918-2017) was a photographer from Naha City, Okinawa, who photographed many children living in Okinawa. After being called up to the battlefield and detained after the war, Yamada returned to Okinawa, where walked around Okinawa recovering from the devastation caused by the war, and continued to photograph the children who lived bravely despite the hardships. This exhibition introduces series of the〈Children in Okinawa〉from the art museum's collection of Yamada Minoru works.

This exhibition will focus on children and introduce about 30 artworks from the art museum's collections. We will divide into two parts, "the world of adults as seen by children" and "the world of children as seen by adults", and introduce the state of society felt through art.

Okinawa has a distinct culture born from its unique cultural climate and past ; its art has also been greatly influenced by its position and role at various times in its tumultuous history. In this exhibition introduces the flow of Okinawan contmporary art.
