This exhibit will introduce us to the beautiful basho (banana fiber plant) and its wide range of uses. In addition to its usefulness as a textile (bashofu) in traditional Okinawan clothing, it has also been the subject of songs and other works since long ago. In this exhibition, we will also focus on the beauty of the basho plant as well as introduce exhibition-goers to the lifestyles of the people associated with it.
