While MIYAGI Kensei (1915‐2001) was known as a friendly man overflowing with humor, his achievements as a leader were instrumental to the Okinawa art scene. Through his original work he continued to challenge the norms with fluidity and sincerity. He was a rare type of artist who did not stick to a certain style, and would constantly change his style of painting. Where did MIYAGI’s unique style come from? While following the changes throughout his career, this exhibition will introduce his life and works.
