The year 2022 marked 30 years of painting for artist Jimmy ONISHI . In celebration of this anniversay, the museum will hold a solo exhibition showcasing the span of Jimmy's 30-year career, featuring work from his earlier days as well as introducing pieces from his newest series.
His real name is Hideaki Onishi. He was born in Osaka in 1964, and joined Yoshimoto Kogyo in 1982, where he garnered attention for being naturally foolish. In 1992, he exhibited his artworks as part of a TV program project, which were highly acclaimed by prominent artists and experts, and in 1993, he held his first solo exhibition. In 1996, he retired from show business and began working as an artist full-time. He held exhibitions of his works, published picture books and art books, and was active both in Japan and abroad. He took a break from art in 2015. On the advice of Sanma Akashiya, he resumed his creative activities in 2020.
